China’s Spy Chief Sounds Alarm Over Rising AI Security Threats

DIVYA DELHI : China’s intelligence leadership has raised concerns over the growing security risks linked to artificial intelligence, warning that the rapid development of AI could create new challenges for national security. According to remarks from China’s spy agency chief, advances in artificial intelligence are creating opportunities as well as potential risks that governments must closely monitor. The warning highlights concerns that increasingly powerful AI systems could be misused for activities affecting a country’s security, information networks and strategic interests. The intelligence chief stressed the importance of strengthening security measures as AI technology continues to develop at a rapid pace. The concerns come amid growing global competition over artificial intelligence, with major powers investing heavily in AI research, advanced computing and related technologies.AI is increasingly being used across sectors including communications, defence, cybersecurity and intelligence.  At the same time, experts have warned that the technology can also be exploited to spread misinformation, conduct cyberattacks and create sophisticated digital threats.
