Divya Delhi : California, July 10: Apple has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging that the artificial intelligence company and two former Apple employees misappropriated confidential trade secrets related to Apple’s unreleased hardware technologies. The lawsuit, filed in a California federal court, claims the information was used to support OpenAI’s consumer AI hardware ambitions. According to the complaint, former Apple executives Tang Tan and Chang Liu allegedly accessed and retained confidential documents, including product designs, manufacturing processes, and supply chain information, before joining OpenAI. Apple has also accused OpenAI of encouraging former employees to share proprietary information during recruitment. OpenAI has denied the allegations, stating that it is committed to developing its technology independently and does not rely on competitors’ confidential information. The lawsuit marks a major escalation in tensions between the two technology companies, which had previously collaborated on integrating ChatGPT into Apple devices. Apple is seeking legal remedies to prevent the alleged use of its trade secrets and to protect its intellectual property.
