DIVYA DELHI : The father of IIT Bombay student Sahil Wakode has questioned the delay in arresting the faculty members named in the case following his son’s death on September 18. He has demanded the arrest of Professor Suryanarayana Doolla and IIT Bombay Director Shireesh Kedare, alleging that his son faced caste-based harassment and pressure before his death. The allegations are part of an ongoing investigation and have not been established as facts.The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the case and examining CCTV footage from the examination hall, campus and hostel areas to reconstruct the sequence of events. Investigators have also recorded statements from students, while Professor Doolla’s statement is expected to be recorded, according to a Crime Branch source. The controversy began after Sahil, a second-year BTech student, was found dead in his hostel room following an incident during an examination. His family has disputed aspects of the institute’s account and sought evidence concerning the examination incident. IIT Bombay has since removed Doolla from his responsibilities as Dean of Administrative Affairs, although he remains a faculty member. The investigation remains underway as authorities examine the allegations and circumstances surrounding Sahil’s death.
