“Meet the Protesters”: Rahul Gandhi’s Message to Hemant Soren.

DIVYA DELHI : Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has urged Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to personally meet students protesting over alleged irregularities in state recruitment examinations. In a letter dated August 14, Gandhi described the students’ agitation as peaceful and said their concerns were legitimate. Gandhi appealed to Soren to listen directly to representatives of the protesting students and take appropriate steps to address their grievances. He said that a direct interaction between the Chief Minister and the protesters could reinforce the government’s commitment to resolving the issue. The student protest, centred on alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), has continued for several weeks. The agitation has intensified pressure on the state government, with students demanding greater transparency and accountability in the recruitment process. Gandhi’s intervention comes at a politically sensitive time, as the Congress is an ally of Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led government. His appeal highlights the growing demand for dialogue and a resolution to the students’ concerns.
