DIVYA DELHI : Delhi Police have busted a major interstate cyber fraud network allegedly involved in investment scams and the supply of mule bank accounts, arresting nine suspects from Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Punjab. The investigation has so far connected the syndicate with 34 complaints filed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), involving fraudulent transactions of more than ₹15.71 crore. Police have also identified seven cyber fraud cases in Delhi, involving around ₹2.70 crore. The breakthrough came during an investigation by the Cyber Police Station, South-West District, following a complaint from a resident of Palam Colony. According to investigators, the victim was added to multiple WhatsApp groups that were presented as investment and stock-market learning platforms. Police said members of the syndicate allegedly posed as market experts and investment professionals. They conducted fake trading sessions, circulated fabricated profit screenshots and shared success stories to convince potential victims that the investment platform was genuine. The Palam Colony complainant was subsequently persuaded to invest through a fraudulent trading application. Trusting the claims made by the accused, he transferred approximately ₹4.82 lakh through multiple bank accounts. Investigators said the fraudsters initially permitted the victim to withdraw a small amount, allegedly as a confidence-building tactic. Later, they demanded an additional ₹7.81 lakh, claiming that the money was required for an IPO allotment. Realising that he might have fallen victim to a fraud, the complainant approached the NCRP. Following the complaint, FIR No. 75/26 was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Police Station Cyber, South-West District.
