Divya Delhi : The Raj Governor has urged universities to take proactive steps to eliminate substance abuse from their adopted villages and contribute to the vision of a Drug-Free India. The Governor called upon educational institutions to expand their social outreach programmes and work closely with local communities to address the growing challenge of drug and substance abuse. The Governor emphasised that universities should not limit their role to academic education but should also promote social awareness, healthy lifestyles and community development. Students, faculty members and local organisations can play an important role in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and encouraging young people to stay away from substance abuse. The Governor suggested that universities could organise awareness campaigns, counselling programmes, health initiatives and youth engagement activities in villages adopted under their outreach programmes. Strong coordination between educational institutions, government agencies and local communities was also highlighted as essential to achieving a drug-free society. The initiative aims to empower rural communities, particularly young people, with awareness and support while strengthening the national campaign against substance abuse.
