Divya Delhi : The Indian Army has joined large-scale flood rescue and relief operations in South Gujarat as relentless rainfall continues to inundate several districts, disrupting normal life and forcing thousands of residents to seek safer locations. The Army was deployed after continuous heavy rain led to rising river levels, waterlogging, and flooding in low-lying areas. Rescue teams, working alongside the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local administration, and police, are evacuating stranded residents using boats and other emergency equipment. Relief camps have been established to provide food, drinking water, medical assistance, and temporary shelter to those affected. Heavy rainfall has caused severe disruption to road connectivity, transportation services, and public utilities across districts including Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and Tapi. Authorities have issued alerts advising residents to avoid flooded areas and remain indoors unless necessary. Schools in several flood-affected regions have also remained closed as a precautionary measure. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued heavy rainfall over parts of South Gujarat, prompting officials to closely monitor the situation. State authorities have assured that all emergency agencies remain on high alert to ensure swift rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts as the weather situation evolves.
