Divya Delhi:
Delhi Police’s Foreigner Cell of North-West District apprehended an illegal Bangladeshi female national during a pre-dawn operation conducted on May 5, 2026, in the New Sabzi Mandi area under PS Mahendra Park. Two smartphones installed with the banned IMO application and Bangladeshi identity documents were seized from her possession. According to police, the Foreigner Cell had been monitoring social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, as part of routine surveillance aimed at curbing illegal immigration and human trafficking activities. During the monitoring process, officials identified suspected Bangladeshi women allegedly involved in a solicitation racket near Azadpur Mandi. Based on intelligence inputs, a special team led by Inspector Vipin Kumar under the supervision of ACP Akash Rawat conducted a sting operation in the area. Undercover officers approached the suspects and offered money for illegal activities to verify the information. After the suspect allegedly agreed, the police team intercepted her near New Sabzi Mandi. During questioning, the woman initially claimed to be an Indian citizen. However, inconsistent statements and suspicious conduct prompted further investigation. Police verified documents, analysed digital footprints and examined photographic evidence, which confirmed that she was a Bangladeshi national residing illegally in India. The accused was later produced before the FRRO, following which deportation proceedings were initiated as per legal procedures.
