Jana Nayagan’ Release Likely Delayed Amid Censor and Scheduling Issues

NEW DELHI, Mar 28: The much-awaited film Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, is likely to face further delays, with reports suggesting its release may now come after Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. The action drama, directed by H. Vinoth, was initially scheduled for January 9, 2026.  The delay is primarily attributed to pending clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification, which has held up the film’s release for several months. While certification is expected soon, the uncertainty has disrupted the film’s release strategy. Industry reports indicate that the makers are reassessing timelines, especially as the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and other logistical factors have influenced scheduling. Additionally, concerns have emerged over the film’s digital rights, with speculation that its OTT deal may have been affected due to repeated postponements. The film is reportedly backed by KVN Productions, which also has a packed release slate. Projects like KD: The Devil and Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups are scheduled for April and June 2026, respectively, potentially pushing Jana Nayagan to mid-2026. Featuring a strong cast including Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol, the film is said to be Vijay’s final project, raising expectations. The makers are expected to announce a new release date soon.
