Modi’s Israel Trip Signals Stronger India–Israel Relations

DIVYA DELHI : Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel is being seen as a milestone in bilateral ties, highlighting growing strategic trust and deeper economic cooperation between the two countries. Israel’s Special Envoy for Trade and Innovation Fleur Hassan-Nahoum said the visit comes at a “critically important time” for the region amid shifting geopolitical dynamics. She described India as not just a key trade partner but a nation sharing common values of innovation, growth and resilience. She also underlined the potential of the proposed India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, aimed at boosting connectivity between India, the Middle East and Europe, calling it transformative for regional prosperity. A key feature of the partnership remains the strong personal rapport between PM Modi and Benjamin Netanyahu, which Hassan-Nahoum said goes beyond formal diplomacy. Counter-terrorism cooperation and discussions around a possible free trade agreement are also high on the agenda. PM Modi is expected to address the Knesset during the visit — an honour reserved for Israel’s closest strategic partners.
