DIVYA DELHI : The Supreme Court of India has invoked Article 142 to assist the Election Commission of India in the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists in poll-bound West Bengal. The court directed the Calcutta High Court to appoint civil judges to verify 50 lakh voter claims, allowing officers from Jharkhand and Odisha to help. Aadhaar and Madhyamik admit cards were approved as ID proof. The final electoral roll is due February 28, with a supplementary list to follow. The ruling Trinamool Congress criticized the move, claiming the Election Commission has “effectively lost control” of the process.
