DIVYA DELHI : Actor Rajpal Yadav has been sent to Tihar Jail in connection with a ₹9 crore cheque bounce case linked to his 2012 directorial debut Ata Pata Laapata. The Delhi High Court recently rejected his final plea in the long-running matter, after which he surrendered to authorities earlier this month. Reports say Yadav had initially borrowed around ₹5 crore to finance the film. Due to production delays, rising interest and penalties, the amount allegedly escalated to nearly ₹9 crore. The film, despite featuring noted actors such as Om Puri and Dara Singh, reportedly performed poorly at the box office, deepening his financial troubles. His close friend and co-star Padam Singh has come out in support, saying Yadav’s “intentions are absolutely clean” and expressing confidence that he will repay the dues if given time. Several members of the film fraternity, including Sonu Sood and Salman Khan, have reportedly extended support. According to his manager, Yadav’s bail hearing is scheduled.
